Hey Laura. Are you listening to a Paul Simon album that has "Diamonds on the soles of her shoes"? Because I have heard the band "Ladysmith Black Mambazo" in concert, and they are the people in the background for that song. Just an interesting thought.
Sorry i have not been answering. Paul Simon is sort of modern but not really. Paul Simon playes afro-pop. I don't know what inspired him to play the music he does i will try to look that up. hi guys it is me again here is stuff about Paul Simon Paul Simon was born October 13th 1941 now he is 67. he is from Newark NJ. the Genres he plays are Folk Rock, Folk Pop, Afro-pop and world. instruments they use are vocals, guitar, bass guitar, piano and percussion. simon went to Queens Collage. Simon earnd a degree in English litertur. Simon has been married three times. Paul simon is still alive and hopefully he will be writing more music. that is my stuff about Paul Simon so i will see you tomarrow bye

he plays with Ladysmith Blackmombasa. the group uses vocals, bass guitar, guitar, piano and percussion. i do like "Diamonds on the souls of her shoes". the beginning of the song is good. i don't know what percussion instruments they use.
In "I know what i know" there is alot of vocals from Ladysmith Blackmombasa. in the start of the song and the end. I like that but not when it is over done like when there is to many vocals. In "Graceland" the lyrics are really nice. Some times it makes me fall asleep i don't know why it just does.
i listend to the whole album while i was in my dads office. Good thing no one was there. When my dad whent out of the room i started dancing to one of the songs. I don't think i have ever listend to music at my dads work place befor. I had plenty of room to dance.
I LOVE "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes!" And I Know What I Know. And Call Me Al, and The Myth Of Fingerprints! I love Paul Simon. "Over the mountains and down in the valley lives a former talk-show host, far and wide his name is known... He said there's no doubt about it, It was the myth of fingerprints, I've seen them all and man there all the same..." Love the lyrics! I have been listening to these songs and singing along since I was a baby! I remember the time when I was five that my mother had to explain to me that the lyrics weren't "Elvis is a water-lily" but "Ever since the water-melon." I was rather crushed by this information at the time. When you are five I guess it makes perfect sense for a rock-star to be a type of flower...
Hi Laura, I'm glad I'm not the only one dancing around to my music when no one is looking! My classroom is a good, roomy place to dance, too! Paul Simon is pretty fun. Amelia, I like your story, too. ;)

me and my dad were kind of yelling Paul Simon in the car last night, but we kept forgetting the words. Do you like him? I think his music is awesome, but I don't always understand it. Like are the lyrics actually "A man walks down the street, says 'What if I die here? Who will be my role-model, now that my role model is gone, gone...' He ducks back down the alley with some roley-poley little bat-faced girl." ? And if those ARE the real lyrics, what do they mean? Bat-faced girl???
